Our Dog is a Doofus

I couldn't get footage of the actual event, but our dog, Trixie, has been trying to catch a bee for the past few days... above is a still of this. Then, doofus that I am, I realized I could actually take video with my camera and I managed to get the aftermath of Trixie being stung in the mouth. And you can hear the concerned dog-owner (me) in the background goading her on to snap at the bees again. Don't turn me in to the Humane Society... I knew she wouldn't ;^)

Today's garage sale finds

Two antique-style silver frames for the master bathroom, an angel holy water font for Chrissy's room, four more house pics for my collection in the stairwell, and lots of old books from the book sale for the living room. I thought the font was a little gaudy, but it looks pretty good!

My Hero

I think we all knew who would be tending to my bees, something he really didn't care to do. That is love.

What, me worry?

This is like the plane Mitch flew on to West Texas. Worse than I thought! :^(

Guess Who?

A little bit of sunshine...

This week's finds...

Hook thing that I will put in the master closet for belts, oldish frame, and two sets of barely worn 3T PJs for Francie this winter. A good weekend!

Close up of the hooks.

Getting the hang of it.

Stuff I Bought this Weekend

I have fallen in love with antique photos of people and their houses because of a blog entry written by Rod Dreher called The Impermanence of Things.

I hope to display my growing collection all the way up the stairs.

Garage saling was light this weekend. Some sales were canceled due to rain and I wasn't going to risk my life getting to ones in Hunt and Harper. These were bought at the Hill Country Chorale sale and all are going in Christine's room.

Perfection

I've read that the ever-bearing strawberries do not taste as good as the "June-bearing," but to me, this Quinault strawberry is a bite of heaven. Ignorance is bliss!

A pouty boy on a rainy day holding our first strawberry.

Braces! Are! Off!

Some PH shots

Here is our house BEFORE the new patios, front walk and driveway. What a difference the hardscape makes... the house is more grounded and permanent now, not like it was plopped down on the top of a hill from the firmament. Will post AFTER shots when I get around to taking the pics.

Guess who?

It's Pete at Francie's age! Boy do they look alike! :^)

Adventures in Beekeeping

We are going to try our hand at beekeeping here at Persimmon Hill. Our hive came several weeks ago and here I am preparing it for 3 pounds of bees and their queen, which will arrive around April 26. I am scared of bees, so this endeavor will entail me facing one of my fears head on. If only I was brave enough to tackle lightning and flying.

Dresser Love

This is Chrissy's "new" dresser... it came into our possession 2 1/2 years ago from an estate sale for a whopping $15. It marked time in the shop of our old house, then in a storage unit, and most recently did a stint as a large tool box in our garage at Persimmon Hill. It did not start out so prettily, though. When I bought it, it was puke pink with some kind of western motif barkcloth nailed all over the top with teeny tiny nails. I gave it a bit of a makeover this weekend and voila! Not bad if I do say so myself. If I can't get to Round Top this week, redoing misfit furniture is the next best thing!

Texas Rally for Life 2010

The 2010 Rally for Life in Austin... warm weather, huge crowd, Perry on fire (what do you expect in an election year?) We had a great time! Pray for the unborn!
